RedStone Bolt is live exclusively on the MegaETH testnet. MegaETH’s architecture is optimized for ultra-low latency and real-time user experience, requiring price oracles that can deliver high-speed data as fast as it creates blocks–currently at a blocktime of 10ms. RedStone Bolt ensures that every MegaETH block carries the latest market prices in real-time. Since deployment on MegaETH testnet, Bolt has redefined what is possible for a blockchain oracle.
RedStone Bolt delivers one update every 2.4 milliseconds. Yes, that is over 400 price updates per 1 second. RedStone Bolt has to be that efficient to match the current block output of MegaETH testnet. Traditional push price feeds are limited by the slower block times of early blockchains and the gas costs of bringing data onchain. On Ethereum mainnet, push oracles deliver price updates for ETH/USD roughly 40 to 60 times in a 24 hour window. This makes RedStone Bolt 576 thousand times faster than the corresponding push feeds on Ethereum mainnet.
Plug and Play With Major Protocols
There are several models of blockchain oracle, with the two most popular being push and pull models. Push feeds were introduced first and are preferred by mainstream DeFi protocols. Pull feeds are generally faster and cheaper, but can require smart contract changes and introduce additional dependencies that can extend integration effort. Before RedStone Bolt, all high-speed oracles used the pull model.
RedStone Bolt is the first real-time push oracle. This distinction is critical. By using a push model, Bolt is plug-and-play with protocols built for traditional push feeds, such as AAVE, Compound, Morpho, Spark, Venus or Fluid, allowing them to instantly deliver real-time user experience, once deploying on MegaETH.
How It Works
RedStone Bolt achieves unparalleled performance through a sophisticated re-imagining of oracle design. Bolt nodes are geographically co-located with MegaETH sequencer nodes to minimize potential latency. The nodes monitor trading activity directly on major trading venues such as Binance, Coinbase, OKX, Bitget and Kraken, then stream via high-speed gateways to MegaETH nodes. The result is that every incoming MegaETH block receives the latest price data, keeping it in sync with the market movements in real-time.
Whereas legacy push oracles are subject to variables like heartbeats and deviation thresholds which reduce the granularity of incoming price data, Bolt adjusts prices in real-time as they are set by the market.
